My Story
Judy, wakefield MA

I had recently moved to New York with my family and went to my new primary physician for a physical exam. He noticed "something unusual" in one of my breasts and sent me for a mammogram the same day. A lump was detected and a stereotactic biopsy revealed that it was stage 1 invasive ductile carcinoma. I had chemotherapy treatments for 8 months and radiation for 6 weeks. That was 15 years ago! I am so grateful that the cancer was caught early. The lump could be felt neither by my surgeon nor by me, so it was a blessing that my new doctor noticed something unusual. It was a frightening experience but it changed my life forever. It taught me to look upon each day as a gift and to appreciate more than ever the people who supported and loved me. I truly believe that early detection saved my life!
