Nine years ago, my wife and I were told by our cousin Linda that she had had her yearly mamo and was diagnosed witih a rare type of breast cancer. After having surgery to remove her left breast she went through series of radiation and chemo. Upon her recovery period she was engrossed in the fact that she wanted to find a way to raise monies to help other people know her story and help them to keep up with their yearly checkups and get the necessary treatments if needed. With two young daughters to worry about she walked into the local American Cancer Society and asked how she could raise money to fight this cause. It is nine years now that we run a breast cancer fundraiser at Carlyle on the Green in Bedthpage, Long Island. Her committee which now consists of 20 volunteers solicit various corporations and businesses for gifts to be raffled off at these fundraisers. We have worked many endless hours setting up these affairs and have donated not only money to the American Cancer society but also to Cold Spring Harbor Labs to find a cure that not only affects women but also men. Early detection can save the life of someone dear to you. Thank you
