I found out I had breast cancer Dec. 15, 2009. The Dr. called me at work about 10:30am. Thirty minutes later my co worker received a call from her Dr. telling her the same story. She fell all to pieces as I sat there in shock. We finally pulled ourselves together and cried some more. I had a mastectomy two weeks later. My Dr. said that mine was so small that he would be suprised if I had to take any treatments. Turns out I had 6 treatments of Chemo & had to have 13 treatments of Herceptin. I have 5 treatments of Herceptin left. I should finish up in Feb. 2011. My co-worker whose name is also Sue had to have Chemo first to shrink her tumor, then a lumpectomy & then radiation. We both have gotten along very well. We missed very few days of work & we both have been so blessed with love & prayers from our church families and many more. Breast cancer is not a journey that any one wants, but it is around every corner. Treatments have come a long way in recent years & I look forward to a long & joyful life ahead of me. I try to keep a postive outlook, I exercise every day, I eat as healthy as I possibly can. (sometimes I could probably do better.) My husband of 45yrs was so wonderful during all my Chemo treatments. He cooked & took over all the housework for a while. I am now back to normal & I praise the Lord everyday for what he has done for me.
